Spring may be a few months away, but Seattle is already in bloom at the 2020 Northwest Flower and Garden Festival. From February 26th through the March 1st the Washington State Convention Center will experience “spring fever”! The show recognized by Better Homes & Gardens as the #1 Flower and Garden Show in the US. will feature over 30 fully landscaped display gardens, 100 free “world-class” seminars and workshops, and shopping opportunities for everyone from green thumbs to novices.
Here are just a few of the many highlights:
The Gardens
The true centerpiece of the Northwest Flower and Garden Show, the gardens are not to be missed. Constructed in under 72 hours each on the floor, these incredible creations from over 30 garden creators from around the Pacific Northwest will take your breath away.
The Marketplace
The Marketplace is your place to find one-of-a-kind gift items, specialty seeds, artisan foods, the hottest new garden accessories, unique hand-crafted art and furniture, vintage garden wares and more! This year’s Marketplace includes over 350 high-quality exhibitors.
City Living
From relaxing retreats to fantastic entertaining areas, city dwellers can find their inspiration here. City Living is a display of 10 complete patio gardens providing design ideas to those who have smaller outdoor living spaces.
Container Wars
This 60-minute demonstration will give you all of the skills you need (directly from the experts) to create beautiful (and practical) containers. Watch the competition and enjoy commentary by syndicated gardening columnist and television host Marianne Binetti.
Blooms & Bubbles
Blooms & Bubbles returns for a second year, giving gardeners the chance to sip bubbly (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) while creating a beautiful make-and-take floral project, led by an expert. Space is limited. Check out the times and offerings here.
Fleurs De Villes
Showing for the first time at the Northwest Flower and Garden Show, Fleurs De Villes is a breath-taking display of the talent and creativity of Seattle’s best florists. This “global phenomenon” will offer photo opportunities and inspiration galore.
Kids’ Treasure Hunt
Keep your mini-green thumbs engaged with the Kids’ Treasure Hunt. Each year, garden creators “hide” items in their gardens for kids to find. They can fill out their treasure hunt forms and win a prize!
Seminars
Inspiration abounds at the over 100 free seminars and workshops offered at the festival. From fresh ways to see color in the garden, to floral arranging, native bee biology, to storing and using herbs- there are options galore! Check out the complete line-up and even search by speaker here.
More tips:
· Free package check stations allow visitors to purchase items and check them across from the Skybridge Lobby. How is that for some shopping motivation?
· Feel free to step out and come back. Re-entry is allowed with a hand stamp.
· Kids 12 and under are FREE!
· Strollers are allowed, but as it can get crowded, show planners encourage child backpacks to make navigating easier.
