Spring is just around the corner, but Seattle is already in bloom at the 2019 Northwest Flower and Garden Festival. From February 20th through the 24th the Washington State Convention Center will blossom with over 20 fully landscaped display gardens, 100 free “world-class” seminars and great shopping opportunities for everyone from green thumbs to novices.
This year’s theme is Gardens of the World and here are just a few of the many highlights:
The Marketplace is your place to find one-of-a-kind gift items, beautiful plants, the newest garden tools, unique hand-crafted art, vintage garden wares and more! Stop by the Plant Market and enjoy mini-nurseries stocked with beautiful ferns, specialty orchids, and a plethora of other interesting finds.
City dwellers rejoice! City Living is a display of 10 complete patio gardens providing creativity for some of the smaller spaces around Seattle. From relaxing retreats, to fantastic entertaining areas find your inspiration here!
Watch experts compete in creating beautiful and practical containers. This lively competition presented by Osmocote Plant Food is fast-paced and so much fun!
Blooms & Bubbles
A new design workshop this year, Blooms & Bubbles gives gardeners the chance to sip bubbly (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) while creating a beautiful flower arrangement. Tickets are $45 per person and space is limited. Check out the times and offerings here.
Vintage Garden Market
One of the most unique features at the festival is the Vintage Garden Market. Here you will find recycled and repurposed treasures created for the garden and outdoor living spaces. From unique repurposed furniture to vintage signs and more! The website recommends you come early for the best selection.
Come to the festival hungry, and take advantage of the Gourmet Marketplace where specialty food and beverage merchants from all over the Puget Sound sample their goods! Check out the mouth-watering participants here.
Kids Treasure Hunt
This is a fun interactive activity for all the mini green thumbs! Garden creators “hide” items in their gardens for kids to find. This year search for the mini airplanes hidden amongst the plants- fill out your Treasure Hunt form and win a prize!
Inspiration abounds at the over 100 free seminars offered at the festival. From learning about soil types, to a botanical tour of the world’s best gardens, to a garden jeopardy game show- there are options galore! Check out the complete line-up and even search by speaker here.
