This October, Fred Hutchinson brings you the 15th annual Great Pumpkin Beer Festival at Seattle Center, Friday October 4th and Saturday October 5th. A pumpkin beer-lover’s dream come true, the festival features 100 “total badass pumpkin and fresh hop brews and cider” from all over Washington. As if that wasn’t good enough, 100% of proceeds benefit the life-saving research at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
If you’ve never drank pumpkin beer out of a giant pumpkin, this is your (and quite possibly only) chance! Each year, brewers “scoop and scorch” an enormous pumpkin, fill it with brew then treat and tap it for all to enjoy! Dress in your wackiest costume, or deck yourself out in head to toe orange for your chance to be crowned “pumpkin royalty” (inspiration abounds at #GPBF).
Great Pumpkin Weigh-Off
Festivities kick off at the 5th Annual Great Pumpkin Weigh-Off September 28th from noon to 4pm. This one-of-a-kind weigh-off takes place at the Elysian production facility in Seattle’s Georgetown neighborhood. Sanctioned by The Great Pumpkin Commonwealth, join growers from all around the region as they find the perfect pumpkin to use at the festival! This family-friendly free event also features pumpkin carving, seasonal activities, food trucks and beer.
