From September 5th through December 5th participating museums in Seattle will be offering free admission on the first Thursday of the month! This is your opportunity to check out some of the many intriguing and captivating museums our area has to offer, without paying admission. Get updates and view the complete list here.  

Visit these museums for Free First Thursdays:   

Burke Museum of Natural History

400 15th Ave. NE, Seattle

After its re-open in October the Burke Museum will be offering free admission on the first Thursday of every month. Visitors can experience a collection of over 16 million objects that create the story of the history and evolution of the Northwest.  

Henry Art Gallery

University of Washington, 15th Ave. and NE 41st, Seattle

Henry Art Gallery is free every Sunday and the first Thursday of every month. Current exhibitions include, Carrie Yamaoka: recto/verso and In Plain Sight and These Are Their Stories by Samantha Scherer.   

Living Computers: Museums + Labs

2245 First Avenue South, Seattle

Come in and geek out for free from 5-8pm on the first Thursday of each month. Current exhibits include Totally 80s Rewind, Mainframes, Minicomputers and Augmented Reality.   

Museum of Flight

9404 E. Marginal Way South, Seattle Your imagination will take flight at the Museum of Flight, free the first Thursday of every month from 5-9pm. Current exhibitions include This Way Up, Vietnam Divided: War Above Southeast Asia and Apollo 17 Mission Models.   

Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI)

860 Terry Ave. N, Seattle

Take a deep dive into our region’s history for free the first Thursday of each month at MOHAI. Current exhibitions include True Northwest: The Seattle Journey, Seattle Style: Fashion/Function and Maritime Seattle. 

Nordic Museum

2655 NW Market St., Seattle

Learn more about the fascinating nordic culture for free the first Thursday of each month at the Nordic Museum. Current exhibits include Nordic Journeys and On the Edge of the World: Masterworks by Laurits Andersen Ring from SMK- The National Gallery of Denmark.   

Northwest African American Museum (NAAM)

2300 S. Massachusetts Street, Seattle

Celebrate black history, art and culture at NAAM free the first Thursday of every month. Current exhibitions include Legacies of Love in Leadership: Community Educators and Activists and Two Seattle Icons: Bertha Pitts Campbell and Mona Humphries Bailey.   

Northwest Seaport Maritime Heritage Center

Historic Ships Wharf, Lake Union Park, 860 Terry Ave. N.

Celebrate the sea with complimentary admission at the Northwest Seaport Maritime Heritage Center the first Thursday of every month. 

Seattle Art Museum (SAM)

1300 First Ave., Seattle

Stroll through the SAM for free the first Thursday of every month for all ages, and the first Friday for ages 62 and over. Current exhibitions include Zanele Muholi: Somnyama Ngonyama, Hail the Dark Lioness, Claire Partington: Taking Tea and Flesh and Blood: Italian Masterpieces from the Capodimonte Museum.
