What began in 1974 as a small community celebration paying tribute to Ballard’s historic connection to Norway and the fishing industry, has grown into an event to look forward to every year.. Touting itself as the “most iconic” free summer in Seattle’s “best neighborhood”, Ballard Seafood Fest hits the streets for it’s 45th year this July! This year more than 75,000 people will take to the streets of Ballard between July 12th and 14th to enjoy the best seafood our city has to offer, delicious local brews and cocktails, unforgettable live music and more!

Trident Seafoods Alder-Smoked Salmon Dinner: This “festival favorite that started it all,” Trident Seafood’s salmon dinner is one you do not want to miss. Enjoy perfectly prepared alder-smoked salmon served with crusty warm garlic bread fresh from Larsen’s Danish bakery, plus coleslaw and a beverage of your choice.
Crab Shack: RUN do not crab walk- to Trident Seafoods’ Crab Shack- featuring fresh crab ready to crack with all of the clarified butter you could possibly drip from your fingers.
Beer and Cocktail Garden: You will certainly never be thirsty at Ballard’s Seafood Fest with the Beer and Cocktail Garden offering a large variety of local craft brews, plus wines and “Ballard-inspired cocktails.” Check out all of the offerings here.
Gravity Payments MainStage: No festival would really “rock” without some great live music to jam to. This year’s line-up features The Joy Formidable, Kyle Craft, The Moondoggies, Nite Wave, Pick Wick and more. Get the whole lineup here.
Gameplank: Bring you family to the festival on Saturday from 11am to 5pm for Gameplank, a collection of fun games that are great for all ages. Past games have included ring toss, Plinko, cornhole, aerial dance performances and much more. Sunday the Gameplank area is replaced with Ballard’s Farmer’s Market.
Kid’s Deck: More family-fun abounds at Ballard Market Kid’s Deck with a fun activites running all weekend long. From pirate yoga to dance parties, magician shows to bouncy houses- there is something for kids of all-ages. There will be ice cream from Full Tilt, face painting, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, art projects and so much more. Get the schedule here.
Lutefisk!: Are you brave enough? This true celebration of Ballard SeafoodFest is a race to the finish to see who can put away up to 2 pounds of delicious lutefisk. A Ballard Seafoodfest tradition, the first ten brave souls to sign up will be given the opportunity to fight to the finish for the bragging rights of survival and the title of champion in the Lukefisk competition. Festi-Bowl: The largest regional, all-ages skates competition is happening in Seattle this year July 13th as a part of Ballard SeafoodFest. Festi-bowl is an all-ages, all-abilities skateboard event that showcases “organized skateboarding” in a positive environment. The competition features clinics provided by Skate Like a Girl plus contests for women, 12 and under, and an open contest. There will be several weeks of skateboarding workshops offered following the event to encourage young responsible skateboarding.
