Find Your Musical Inspiration at the 2019 Seattle Chamber Music Winter Festival

Jan 17, 2019

The 2019 Seattle Chamber Music Winter Festival promises to awe with its charming ensembles and moving renditions.  Presented by Artistic Director James Ehnes, the Festival runs Thursday-Sunday for two weeks January 18th through the 27th at the Nordstrom Recital Hall at Benaroya.

The 2019 Winter Festival is an exploration into the development of music. This “musical feast” begins with romantic classics including Beethoven’s famously haunting “Ghost” piano trio and Brahms’ spectacular Op. 25 Piano Quartet. The journey continues into the mid-20th century through the “emotional and inventive masterpiece” Janáček’s first String Quartet, inspired by Tolstoy’s riveting novella “The Kreutzer Sonata”. Closing the Festival is an all-French performance of the masterpieces of Saint-Saëns, Fauré, and Debussy.

Beyond the concerts, the Festival gives enthusiasts the opportunity to experience a deeper exploration into the world of chamber music.  Audiences can watch the musicians prepare at Open Rehearsals held January 18th and 26th at 1:15pm. Pre-Concert Recitals take place 90-minutes before each show, introducing select Festival musicians who play a repertoire of their choosing. Following each performance, Meet the Artists sessions will give the audience an opportunity to get to know the musicians and ask questions. And finally aficionados can join Classical KING FM’s Dave Beck and Festival musicians for live recordings of the Classical Conversations podcast. Dates and times can be found here
