This August, Seattle Art Fair returns to CenturyLink Field Event Center. Seattle’s modern and contemporary art showcase is a destination for afficionados and novices alike. Nearly 100 galleries from all over the world will showcase their art, August 1st through the 4th, in an exploration of the themes of curiosity and wonder, expressed through the mediums of music, tech, natural history and artificial intelligence.
Now in its fourth year, the Seattle Art Fair was the brainchild of Microsoft founder, Paul Allen. Paul used inspiration he drew from his numerous travels to Italy combined with his love for investing in the culture of the Pacific Northwest to create an art experience like no other. Seattle Art Fair gives visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in beautiful works, industry specific discussions, and panels of experienced artists. This year’s discussion topics include the role of artificial intelligence in our lives, a panel of young burgeoning artists ages 9 to 12, and a discussion on achieving true market disruption in the digital realm.
In a recent statement describing this year’s Fair, Nato Thompson Seattle Art Fair’s artistic director said, “The programming of the Seattle Art Fair is eclectically topical. We were inspired by the Wunderkammers, cabinets of curiosity from the 16th century that displayed objects garnered and pilfered from across the seven seas. This program ideally takes the spirit of interdisciplinary, intersectionality, and the post-human touchstones for a 21st-century version.”
