Bring on the Camps- A Guide to Great Seattle Summer Camps!

Jun 05, 2018

Summer is approaching and while that means nicer weather, time spent outdoors, and family adventures- for a lot parents it also means the struggle of how to fill the weeks with no school.  Well, have no fear, we are here to share with you some of the most interactive, fun and exciting summer camps Seattle has to offer.  These are opportunities for your kids to learn, experience AND explore their interests!

Pacific Science Center Camps- 2018 Camps for Curious Minds

The ultimate in science exploration, Pacific Science Center offers a variety of enriching camps for children PreK-8 including hands-on experiments and projects.  Camps are held at 8 locations throughout the Seattle area. Some of our favorites include: Kitchen Chemistry, Crazy Contraptions, Candyology, Magicians Dilemma, and Forensic Files.

Seattle Children’s Museum Camps- Cool Careers in STEAM

Seattle Children’s Museum sets the stage to answer the question “what do you want to be when you grow up?” with camps based around the theme of cool careers in STEAM.  Camps can be attended by the week, day or half-day.  Some of our favorites include Innovators and Influential Women, Take it to the Stage! (the art of performing), and How Does That Work for your little engineers.

Woodland Park Zoo Camps

Your kids can hang with the animals this summer at Woodland Park Zoo!  From Kinder Camp (ages 3 to 5 years), to Zooper Day Camp (ages 4 to 9 years), Discoveries Day Camp, a Cooperative Program with Seattle Children’s Theatre  (ages 5 to 7), and Zoo U (ages 10 to 14 years)- your mini animal enthusiasts will have the opportunity to learn about everything from animal ecology to blood and guts!

Seattle Aquarium Camps

Explore the sea with hands-on camps at Seattle Aquarium for children from ages 4-14.  From learning to sing the songs of the tide pools, to “who in the sea is just like me?” observing the commonalities of sea life and humans, to deep diving studies into the whales of the Salish Sea (including an end-of-week boat excursion).

Museum of Pop Culture Camps (MoPop)

MoPop offers a variety of youth workshops that investigate music, sci-fi and pop culture.  Their Creativity Camps are designed for kids from grades 1-8.  In partnership with Seattle Children’s Theatre and Pacific Science Center these camps give kids a chance to become a rock star, compose and create music, and learn the art of songwriting.   Teen Artist Workshops are held for kids from 8th to 12th grade- as a chance to further their musical talents.  MoPop joins forces with DigiPen, School of Rock, and Rain City Rock Camp for Girls teaching kids to hone their proficiencies, learn about music trends and seriously rock out!

Seattle Children’s Theatre Camps

The goals of Seattle Children’s Theatre Summer Camps are to nurture the love of theatre in children.  SCT believes that great theatre can “make this world better- help heal a world full of harm, [and] bring together a world divided.”  Children of all ages (from 4 to 12th grade) will flourish at camps ranging from Drama Quest, Acting, Comedy, Stage Combat and more.
